Virgin Care Essex are looking for dynamic nurses and midwives who have the right qualities and values to train for Specialist Community Public Health Nursing Health Visitor or School Nurse. These include effective communication skills to support and empower families and young people, while being professional at all times with partner agencies, being a flexible and reliable team player with the ability to prioritise and manage a busy workload and an approach suited to community working. 

Main Responsibility

The training is a full-time course (50% theory and 50% practice) combining the study and clinical learning in both university and practice placements.  The course is at level 7 and is delivered by Anglia Ruskin University commencing January 2022.  The university will provide the theoretical knowledge and skills to ensure high quality, evidence-based assessment, delivery and evaluation of care in relation to child/family need and will include the protection of children.  Practice placements are across the 4 quadrants in Essex and are facilitated by practice supervisors and assessors within our health family teams and integrated children's services.

The Ideal Candidate

Entry requirements for the programme are:

- either a degree in nursing or midwifery or an advanced diploma

- ability to travel across Essex to meet both the educational and clinical requirements of the course

- essential to be a car owner and driver

- you will also need to be confident using IT systems and be able to demonstrate working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel

 

On successful completion of the course the post holder will be eligible to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Health Visitor/School Nurse).

 

Interviews will be held on 19th, 21st and 22nd October at Anglia Ruskin University.  Candidates will be expected to be avaialble for the whole day for interview.  Candidates will firstly complete a numeracy and literacy test set by the university.  If you are successful in passing these you will be seen for face to face interview.  Successfully shortlisted candidates will be sent a reading list to assist you in preparing for interview.
